The Pitch

Pitch - Website Page Design

For the website i took inspiration from biffy clyro's website and the arctic monkey's, both artist we have looked at before and what we want to mimic. I tried to make it quite easy to navigate with a lot of fan interaction as well.

Pitch - Music Video Timeline Planning

We have designed a sheet that will contain information about what we plan to do in our own music video. Here is the sheet.

For this we watched the video and listened to how slow/fast the song is on certain lyrics, After that we highlighted where we would use narrative and where we would focus on the performance of the band.

Pitch - Letter To the record label

To whom it may concern,
I am a student at Queen Elizabeth Sixth form, We are in our second year of A-Levels and we have been tasked to create a music video of a song of our choice. We would love to create a video using the song Biblical by Biffy Clyro. Of course we need your permission to do this as to avoid copyright infringement. What we are creating is not commercialised and will not gain any profit. It is purely for academic purposes, we would love to hear back from you.
Kirsty Evers

We submitted this through the WMG question submitter.

Pitch - Digipak Flat Plan

For the digipak we are planning on using the black and white effect from the 1975 and also the lack of colour usually equals indie rock. The Colour on the CD adds quite a pop to the pack so it's not fully bland. The body language of the band will be different and we took the inspiration from the killers digipak on how the band members are standing and shown.

Pitch - Chosen Track & Inspiration

The track we have chosen to use for our music video is Biffy Clyro- Biblical. We have chosen to do this particular song due to the fact it is a combination narrative video which is very effective, and it matches the genre we have chosen to investigate and recreate. We also decided on this song due to our study day with Jake Wynne who actually directed this video and introduced us to it.

We also have a lot of inspirational videos to help us with our videos.

This video was done by Latymer College By Group 5, we looked at several pieces of student work however we particularly liked this combination narrative. Since the our narrative is going to have a theme of looking back on memories it is better to have a more vintage homely feel which this video manages to do on the narrative part when they use a camera which isn't of great quality and it looks like old home videos. This creates a sentimental feel. Also the way they have used a hand held camera makes a more personal sequence on the couple moments as it is more light hearted and it makes it look like they are the ones filming it themselves documenting their memories together which makes for a more strong romance narrative.

The 1975 Chocolate also is a good combination video and useful to us in several ways. As it is an indie rock genre the outfit choices we use are based upon videos like this, with the use of black clothing used heavily in this video for example leather jackets, black t shirts and black jeans. Also an effect which goes well with the clothing is the black and white edit tinge over the whole video, the black and white makes the video more heavy giving rock elements which is effective and works well therefore we may use it in our own.

Kodaline- Love Like This is one of our inspirational videos (full video bellow) this is because of the pub setting, we to were considering a setting that won't exactly be a pub but will have a feel like this as it makes the performance based elements look like a secluded gig which is what we would be aiming for as we don't have the resources for a large event/performance area. The camera movement in this clip is also really creative and would be amazing to re-create.

The music video Heart Out By 1975 is inspiring to us through several elements. Firstly we like the colour palet used within the video, the lighting effects and dark contrasted white light colours are common in the indie rock genre and make the video more effective. The Bands set up is also something that we like therefore can use it and the way they have set up the stage is something we can take into consideration on our own work. Another element in this video we like is the smoke machine, having a smoke machine could make our video seem more professional and create a better performance based narrative.

Another video we have for inspiration mainly for our performance elements is Blitz Kids- Perfect (full video above). The Gif above shows a few seconds of the performance within the video, we like this particular moment sure to the lighting used and the smokey like atmosphere, which is relevant to band performances. Alongside the amount of enthusiasm the band is showing, jumping around and 'jammin' out' on their instruments, putting such motivation into the music video will make it much more effective just like this one does. Also the colour pallet used within the video is similar to The 1975 Heart Out, showing that is a common element we could incorporate into our own video.

With this video we are focusing on the first few second as this is a lyric video. This type of lighting is common in indie rock music videos, it gives the idea of a city night, with the nightlife of people out and slightly disorientated, however it gives a good out of focus effect which is very appealing and common in the genre.
